Protecting Nature in Oakfield Wood.

Oakfield Wood is a Natural Woodland Site and a sacred place, where each resting spot is a testament to a life lived, intertwined with the beauty of nature. We work hard to maintain the natural status to protect the peaceful resting places promised to all who lie here.
Unfortunately this means we must remove many items such as tinsel, plastic flowers, glass and ceramic pots etc. Sadly this has resulted in a groundsman sustaining a serious glass injury and so we must kindly ask that ONLY natural items be left on site. This will be enforced in the terms and conditions of our natural burial site. I appreciate that this will please some and upset others but, ALL glass jars and objects are being removed before the grass grows and obscures them, which could lead to further injuries during ongoing maintenance work. All Christmas garlands have now been removed! Any Keepsakes and precious items can be collected from the office during open hours.
We work hard to keep Oakfield Wood as natural as possible for the Families who visit, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the woodland, fostering a sense of connection not only to their loved ones but also to the woodland itself. Equally important are the birds and wildlife who live here and for whom a lot of what we remove also poses a health risk. We thank you for your co-operation in making this place as beautiful as possible for everyone to enjoy.
